Set the timer for 10 minutes and start writing. When the timer goes off, give the piece a title, count up the words, and share it in the comments.

My next 3-week writing workshop on Substack, “Paint Chips to Prose,” begins today for paid subscribers. Through 10-minute prompts inspired by paint swatches with names like “Careless Whisper” or “Dangerous Robot” or “Spill the Wine,” we’ll explore how these colorful cues can unlock unexpected stories and memories.
Write with me for just 10 minutes a day, and you'll have 21 pieces of short prose by the end of our three weeks! I'll offer a revision workshop later this year to help you transform this wonderful collection into polished work.

She served as co-editor of The Rose Metal Press Field Guide to Graphic Literature. Her Substack is The Habit of Art. We’ll be looking at her short comics and explore the different ways you can use micro prose in different visual mediums.

I sign on 5 minutes before and stay for 5 minutes after to answer questions or do a short craft talk. We always start writing at the top of the hour, and you are welcome to jump in/head out at any time. Even if you join with 2 minutes left on the timer, you will get some writing done.
