Writing Workshop: Paint Chips to Prose (Week 1)
Color is the language of memory
Get ready to build a palette of stories
Welcome to the first week of exploring how color triggers memory and how evocative paint chip names can take us back to a specific moment.
For the next three weeks, we’re exploring the colors in our lives through timed 10-minute writing prompts with an eye towards building a small body of work.
Paint chips are small rectangles of inspiration that hold more than pigment. We're using these colors—and their evocative names—as gateways into our memories and stories. A dazzling burgundy “Stolen Moments” might transport you to a secret you kept. A melancholy grey “Afternoon Drizzle” returns you to a day when the weather matched your mood. A brilliant purple “Chatterbox” could spark memories of late-night conversations. Join me as we discover personal moments hidden in both the spectrum of our everyday lives and the poetry of color names.
