How this space works and what a paid subscription includes

This is your home base for everything included in an annual paid subscription.
There are two paid tiers: the standard paid tier and the Micro Mastermind tier (Substack’s founding/highest paid member level). To learn more about your subscription options, go here.
In your subscription settings, you can turn on “For Paid Subscribers” to get notifications for new posts and when I go live.
My Paywall Philosophy
Writer-ish is built on the belief that writing should be accessible, generous, and sustainable. Many of my live sessions, prompts, and conversations are free so writers can begin without pressure or gatekeeping. A paid subscription supports writers who want to build a sustained practice. It’s for returning to replays and workshops, participating in co-writing sessions, and working more deeply over time. Paid membership is about access to structure, continuity, and a supportive creative community. You’re always welcome to remain a free subscriber, and if you choose to upgrade, your subscription helps make this space—and this work—possible.

Invitations to our monthly 3-hour co-writing Zoom session, which begins a craft talk and occasional handouts to support your creativity (see below), then 2 hours of quiet co-writing. These sessions are hugely productive for all involved, including me. Come when you can and drop in or out as needed.
Update for 2026: One of my FAVORITE things to do in the first hour of our monthly paid subscriber co-writing session is to review micro prose and short flash pieces from our community and do a live edit. The live edit is designed to help the writer explore what they want to say and what’s currently happening in the piece. I ask questions, notice what’s working, and turn the lens back to the writer and their intentions. If the writer wants, I’ll make suggestions on how to tighten and distill. Everyone attending learns how different micro pieces are crafted, and the writer receives feedback on the aspects that sing, even if it’s a first draft.

Following are the 2026 dates for the Paid Subscriber Co-Writing Zooms. Please note that you must be a paid subscriber at the time of registration and on the date of the event. Dates/times are subject to change until the official Luma event invitation is posted in the monthly paid subscriber post, usually 1-2 weeks prior, even if registration is open on my Luma calendar. These sessions are recorded and shared in the monthly paid post.

Non-transferable. This consultation is good for one year from the start of your Micro Mastermind subscription on Substack. If your subscription renews, you’ll receive credit for a new session. If you cancel your subscription and receive a refund, but have already had a session, you may be billed for that session at my regular rate.
